Focusing on the Small Strands 🔑

When a reader is stuck, we don’t need to panic. We just pull out our magnifying glass and see which individual strand needs a little extra love:

• Is it sound awareness? We go back to oral phoneme blending.

• Is it decoding? We review letter-sound correspondences and syllable types.

• Is it comprehension? We pause to build background knowledge and explore rich “sparkle words” through interactive read-alouds.

By breaking literacy down into systematic, bite-sized components, we take away the guesswork. Every small activity you do today—whether it’s rhyming while making breakfast or tapping out sounds at a desk—is adding another strong thread to their reading rope!
